Remember that Indian Head I found sometime back that was crusted with some kind of Gunk?
Someone suggested a wire brush but it didn't really help much. I decided to pop it into the rocks
tumbler last night. It turned out ok. The gunk is gone and the value is diminished to zero but it still looks
good in my opinion.

I did a Indian penny that way once also and when it came out it was easly readable but it was sure a bright copper color it almost didn't look real . Sure lost all the collectabity but was nice to look at . I gave mine to my hunting buddy as I had several more good ones .

That's one way to clean them when they're not a key date. Looks good without all that gunk on it. We usually just take a brass brush to them and that's it. We don't put them through the tumbler. Thanks for sharing and HH, Nancy

After reading your post I decided to rerun the Indiana Head in the tumbler again with
some newer pennies. This time it too came out looking like NEW with the bright
copper color you mentioned.

Not being a coin collector I don't see why it should make any difference to ANY collector
if the coin is polished or not. But possible difference could it make if the coin has the original
freshly dug out of the ground look or not. I'll have to post that as a question somewhere on the forum and
see what kind of answers I get.
