Larry, I'm really on the fence weather to polish or not. To give you guy's an idea how often we find them Marcia and I have found 8 of them in 14 hours of hunting. They are Lake Superior Agates. They are very scarce down here. We have only found them in Iowa and Missouri. None here where we live. The best part it's a blast hunting them in the creeks.

Pretty good find.

Robbie, what are the pros and cons of polishing it? A few years back the Travel Channel had a program called "Cash and Treasures" and they went looking for these. I believed they polished the ones they found after cutting them.

The size of this one is 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" x 3/4" thick. The pro and cons of polishing is totally a personal preference. Some people prefer to leave them as in found state and others prefer them polished. Usually a polished one will bring more money if a person takes the time to polish. Also quite a few jewelry makers prefer them in as found state. That way they can have the stones cut to size and then polish them. The thing a lot of people doesn't know it takes just about 7 to 9 weeks to polish. That's running my Lortone QT66 tumbler non stop 24-7. The only reason I do shut it down during that time is to check on the progress of the different grits that I use. Any more questions just fire away and I will do my best to answer them. Take care all!!!

This is what I was thinking, a cut and polish......... the colors really pop.
