Hey Monte, you are quite the persuader. I just purchased the 5 inch EXcelerator coil for my MXT. And I really do not like Kellyco.

If it does half the stuff in my soil that it does for you in your soil then it will be money well spent.
You make a great argument for the coil and your opinion is very well respected and appreciated. So I got over my personal feelings for Kellyco and now await the coil with giddy anticipation.
I'll let you know what I think when it gets here.

or E-mail. I will be curious to know how well it works for you.
What sort of ground readings do you get with your MXT and in what part of Colorado are you?
Many of us have had "feelings" for Kellyco, and other companies, and sadly thay were not always well founded.
Sometimes based upon what we would hear others say, and perhaps based upon an experience. I got over it years ago when I bought a used Tesoro Pantera from them. I was using a Pantera a lot and I checked high and low for a decent unit because a friend wanted one.
Local dealers, and some not too local, sent me photos if I was not able to go by and check them out and all were rather well used. I called Kellyco and asked about one. I asked for them to describe for me, over the phone, the physical and operating condition.
Their price was the best of any dealer or even what I had found on some early internet sources, and when it was delivered I was more than impressed. So was my friend! <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
On three or four occasions I had an opportunity to use a Kellyco Hot Head 5.5 Ferret coil for the 6.59 kHz models and in each and every instance I was more than impressed!
I wanted to try a larger coil of DD design on an MXT last fall and the only source was Kellyco. JW was prompt in taking care of the order and the request was filled and delivered quickly.
When I decided I definitely needed an MXT back into my personal battery as my primary-use unit, and naturally wanted the 5" & 14" Excelerator, it was logical to me to contact Kellyco.
Quite frankly, while the 14" Excelerator coils provide the added coverage I need, it is the 5" Excelerator that impresses me the most and does so every time I put it to work.
Anyway, times change and business' change and in the end the whole idea is to enjoy the hobby. To have fun, and one way to do that is by using new and exciting equipment that gets the job done!

Dedicated to White's and proud to use an Excelerator coil(s).

along with the 5" Excelerator coils.
I was quite impressed with the coverage I got with the 14" last fall, but with my bad back cutting into some of my detecting time I parted with it when I did my MXT. Upon recall, I considered the fact that some of the sites I had been working with it were not level, but well sloped or hilly and that would have added to the stress and fatigue.
When I was ordering the MXT & coils JW asked if I had tried the 12

I haven't used a Hotfoot.
No <EM>"local dealer"</EM> around here carries them and there doesn't seem to be that much interest in them. I asked the folks at the prospectors meeting last night to see if anyone might have a Hotfoot so I could check one out, but none of them did.
I don't have a use for one or interest in trying one so I wasn't going to spend my money for one.
