Looks like I'll be getting one of these from duggr shortly as we will probably finalize things this evening. I just bought a nearly new classic ID WITH Mr. Bill mods for my lady from Mark Sowder a few days ago and he suggested you for pointers and tips. Between the new modified classic ID and the 6000 pro xl... I'm almost sure I'm getting...I'll be visiting this forum quite often.
I mainly hunt with an SE but I miss my analog meter from my earlier hunting days. The xl pro sounds like it will be a deadly partner to my SE. I have read tons of posts here so i feel somewhat familiar with the xl already. I have never read one bad comment about the xl pro.

welcome to the forum!..you will always hear positive things about this detector because it deserves every accolade expressed about it!
i am a believer in this unit,as i have used one for many years!..it will stack up to anything out there for it's ability to "sniff" out coins!..as you probably are already aware,if you hunt with the superb 5.3 bullseye,or black max coil, then you will have one of the best
"tools" in the industry for "sniping" coins!..make sure you "crank" up the signal balance as "hot" as you can for the site you are hunting, and just enjoy the hell out of a magnificent "master!"..the
legendary "pro!"

in the "drivers seat" because you're going to have two great detectors to handle virtually any type of typical, day-to-day hunting application! :)

First suggestion: Get at least 1 6

I can't wait to get it here. It's coming with the pro scan 9.5 coil and also the 5.3 you have been talking about. When I bought the modified classic ID...it came with an 800 coil and the snooper 3.5 coil.....so I'm IN BUSINESS...since all these coils interchange! I'll keep you posted and am sure to have MANY questions.

Hi Bryce,

You are in for a lot of fun. The XL Pro is a pleasure to swing and is deadly on coins with a 5.3 coil. In my soil, when the meter locks on between the N and I in NICKEL, the target will be a nickel over 90% of the time. And with the 5.3 coil you can swing slow enough to overcome a lot of masking.

When the trigger switch is in the center position, the meter will I.D. targets in all 4 modes. It shows that plainly in the chart on page 24 of the Instruction Manual. Do not allow a year to pass before understanding that like I did. Regardless of what mode you have selected, the meter IDs with the trigger in the center position and pinponts with the trigger pulled.

BTW, if you hunt areas with lots of iron trash, you are going to love your modified Classic ID. Leave the 3.5 coil on it and it WILL ferret out good targets. Just move slow and it will find them.

Good luck and have fun, Bob
