I read that article in National Geographic. Only around 350 of those here on the east coast but 10,000 on the west coast. See'ms are shipping lanes take out a couple of them each year. They breed slow and only have a calf every 3 years or so. The New England whalers named that that because at the time they were the whale you want to hunt, or Right whale because of the oil in the thick blubber on them. Glad we found better ways to get oil. Beautiful thing to see on the ocean. They pass pretty close here at about 20 miles off shore. They have Whale boats here that take you out of Point Judith to see them. Quite a site.
