Hey Mike...

My button says R Liebmann Mfg Co--Newark, NJ on the back. On the front, the left facing ribbon appears to say INF. Did some more research and looks like possibly a 1911 Great Seal Button. Any more info you can get would be great. I like to have a listing of the ins and outs for my collection. My first button and in my own backyard to boot.

Looks like your might be WWI. The Great seal was introduced in 1902, but was made for many years after.

Thanks Mike. Mine appears to be # 15 on your list. I looked at that website last night and found a pic of it and some listings. I will show it to a historian friend of mine and get his input, but I assume you are right on the money as usual.

My Mistake! From The Picture, It Surely Looks Like The Buttons On My U.S. Army Dress Uniform. Apparently Uncle Sam Hasn't Changed Designs In A Long, Long Time?

Hey Martin, I think the design is still about the same. This is an older button. Don't know much about that Army stuff as I wuz a sailor boy.

it was near an old oak, by a canal, about 7 inches down.It read 11:39 on my ctx 3030. the shank is bent some with a wire loop attached to the shank. Odd i thought don't know why. Also it is 7 eights inch wide.

hope you like it here
