Hey Marco! I see your latest bit of work went on general display to the public tonight.

They even got a couple of local actors to open the show for you. One of these days, they'll be able to afford a couple of yank actors to do the honors for you. Might be a bit far for them to travel though.
Good luck with it.
Mick Evans.
P.S. I hope you had a couple of shares in it.

I thought I'd managed to quit the industry.... I mean, here's my view when Prospecting with my detector just a few weeks ago and
then someone called me up and told me to get on a plane in 3 hours to fly up North & assist in finishing the film. I thought I'd
finished that one about 2 years ago. Bit of a close call too.

Here's my view the following day:

It wasn't hard to twist my arm to live on the beach for a few weeks (*the studio was nearby) but the money was good and I
have been saving up to get a new Minelab detector that will allow me to work more efficiently alongside the X-Terra 70.

If I had the time, I would have bought mine with me to scour the beaches up there. Can't do that with a GPX unless you want to dig
magnetic plankton or somesuch.

I must have done something good because a few interesting things have befallen me in the last 6 hours.

... the big question... did I get a screen credit? I requested credits but the politics of the industry means you don't know
if you got one until the final credits roll. I actually used some of my Goldfield photography to create digital backgrounds for the movie.

/No shares. Sadly.

Also, the reviews are a bit "mixed" at the moment so this might not be a good thing. Some say it's too long.
Thanks though. And there's nothing like an endorsement from Oprah Winfrey to push a product onto the general public.
I haven't seen the final cut but it looked pretty interesting visually over the last few years.

PS/ Going to be out your way in the near future (in few weeks?) if the weather stays nice. Got to do some detecting out near Orange and
photograph the region on a sunny day. Just dreading the summer heat out there. Wasn't sure I'd survive it last year!
Stop in at the Miner's Den sometime as I'm going to be there to fill in for Brian when he retires in a short while.

Cheers!

Is that Darwin's skyline?
It sounds like the final details were not complete till 24 hours before release. that's cutting it close.
It looks like you have got the career change that you wanted lined up. it wouldn't have the same financial reward as what you've been doing, but when you get the make a living out of something that you love doing, it's almost as good as being retired. Brian will be missed. I hope that he enjoys his retirement. I'll make a point of dropping into the shop next time I'm down in Sydney. I'm not sure when that will be though. I usually get to drop in there over the Christmas new year period, but I'm going to be stuck in ubbo this time. A real shame, because that's my favourite detecting period of the year. I always pull up around or better than $200 each Christmas week that I go to Sydney.
BTW. that $70 000 nugget that you mentioned in your post the other day, wouldn't happen to be the 71 ounce nugget that was found up around Burrendong was it? One of the club members submitted a story that was printed in the current edition of Gem and Treasure about Eagle Beagle, which is very close to the dam. did you get to read it? It was on page 18. A few of the club members gave him a friendly ribbing for spilling the beans the spot. It'd been hunted fairly hard over the last 6 to 8 months.
Better go. All the best for the new job. I hope that you get to stay there for a while. I'll do my best to drop in on you when I can get down there.
Mick Evans.
P.S. The expanded version of that article is being put on the Burrendong state park website, I presume after the mag has run it's course. I'll also have an article coming out in the new year. It was sent off a couple of weeks back, but it's about another brand of detector that I use. so I won't mention it's name.:poke:

Hi Greg. I miss the wealth of info in the archived threads there.... before some jerk hacked the site and then wiped them.
Things are okay here. No such thing as a perfect life but I am less stressed since quitting the film industry. WAY too much stress otherwise.

I find Prospecting to be very relaxing and a good way to distance myself from the rat race. Whilst I like people and find the isolation a
little strange sometimes, the long drive home to my wife & cat always gives me time to appreciate what I have.

Would love to catch up with you guys sometime.

Cheers,

Marco

Marco,
Any time I see a post from you I always read it as you have given me heaps of helpful advice for the x-terra 70 that would have taken years to learn with-out your help. I will post a pic. of an old ring found about 30m. off the bottom of the beach on a freakishly low tide.
cheers Greg.
