I thought I'd managed to quit the industry.... I mean, here's my view when Prospecting with my detector just a few weeks ago and
then someone called me up and told me to get on a plane in 3 hours to fly up North & assist in finishing the film. I thought I'd
finished that one about 2 years ago. Bit of a close call too.
Here's my view the following day:
It wasn't hard to twist my arm to live on the beach for a few weeks (*the studio was nearby) but the money was good and I
have been saving up to get a new Minelab detector that will allow me to work more efficiently alongside the X-Terra 70.
If I had the time, I would have bought mine with me to scour the beaches up there. Can't do that with a GPX unless you want to dig
magnetic plankton or somesuch.
I must have done something good because a few interesting things have befallen me in the last 6 hours.
... the big question... did I get a screen credit? I requested credits but the politics of the industry means you don't know
if you got one until the final credits roll. I actually used some of my Goldfield photography to create digital backgrounds for the movie.
/No shares. Sadly.
Also, the reviews are a bit "mixed" at the moment so this might not be a good thing. Some say it's too long.
Thanks though. And there's nothing like an endorsement from Oprah Winfrey to push a product onto the general public.
I haven't seen the final cut but it looked pretty interesting visually over the last few years.
PS/ Going to be out your way in the near future (in few weeks?) if the weather stays nice. Got to do some detecting out near Orange and
photograph the region on a sunny day. Just dreading the summer heat out there. Wasn't sure I'd survive it last year!
Stop in at the Miner's Den sometime as I'm going to be there to fill in for Brian when he retires in a short while.
Cheers!
Marco
