Ok now that I am retired when we going hunting. I have got things almost all done and I am fixing to go on one long vacation. I got to round up John Saldavar over in TX and go down to Galveston and do some hunting.
The last time I talked to Troy he was down to being Picky, Picky, Picky on the new machine. He didn't tell me when but you know how he is. That is about all I can tell you. When he is ready he will let me know.
I got my new X70 today and the box from UPS was tore up and mashed on both ends. Damn, I hate UPS. Most worthless package handling, well you know what I mean. Boy, Ronny Dugger was hot to and I mean P.O. UPS is supposed to contack me tomorrow and they want to see the box. You should see this box. I don't know if the detector is going to be ok or not. I got it put together and put the 5x10DD on. Have not taken it outside yet to try it out. If it don't hit my 8" dime I got buried on edge it will be a Gone Pecaun as we say down here in Cajun country.
Anyway I inspected the DD coil and I have two gaps in the sealing of the two halves of the coil. The 7KHX coil has about 5 voids in the sealer part on the bottom of the coil. So you better check out the concentric coils and the DD if you have them. If they have voids in them you better seal them up. Right now I know if the DD was to hit alittle water it would leak right in the cover halfs.
So I am going to take the coil cover off and seal it up like I sealed up my Joey coil and it has never leaked.
If you get the DD coil you are going to have to seal it up anyway. So pull the coil cover off, get you some red RTV I use the High temp kind just because I got some of it but the regular waterproof stuff is ok. Run a bead around the bottom inside edge of the coil cover and run a bead around the inside edge of the coil cover also. Make sure you got some squeeze out when you put the coil cover and the coil back together. I just spit on my finger and smooth it out all the way around the edges between the coil cover and the coil. Then run a bead around the edge of the coil cover and coil on the outside and smooth that out the same way. Also seal up the slots in the strain relief where the wire goes into the coil. I use the Joey coil on my EXPll most of the time, about 90% of the time. I had to seal all my Mine Lab coils so far. I don't know what they don't understand about inspecting for voids in the sealer. Coilteck is just as bad though. Well that is about it. I just got back from our coin club meeting and I sold some silver coins tonight and got some nice bucks for them. I came in and saw your post. Nice hearing from you. Later Bud and May All Your Days Be Filled With GOLD. Jerry Aka Tinfoil
