Hey! I just bought a used CZ20..now I can really be a mudpuppy!

Hey Mudpuppy have you tried the beach and water forum,I was reading there awhile back and there was quite a few guys custom making different ways to carry there machines and equipment. How about that heat wave we had over the weekend!! haha looks like detecting is just around the corner!!!!!!...hh rick in mi.

I've been out hitting the sledding hills up here at O dark thirty every morning! Found a five dollar bill, 19 Q's 12 D's, 11 N's and 2 P's today alone!
Looking for a lost wedding ring, which is still eluding me...Love this weather!

Welcome to the water and mud!
Here is how i cobbled together some pieces to mount mine up.

Do you detach it and wear it on your chest or belt, or is this a better balance? I like what I see here, running the cable straight and into an "extension cord" fold held by those velcro wraps I see...do you use yours diving or snorkling too? And did you make that shaft custom? Nice!

It is mounted to the shaft. I tried it belt mounted with a wide web belt and with the fisher chest harness. With both the belt and chest harness, the detector bobbed around. Less so with the web belt, but I did not care for either. The straight shaft balances well in and out of the water. It is my preference. The upper rod is aluminum tube from the hardware store. Handle is a bicycle bar end. The other pieces are parts that I had from various detectors. Honestly don't know the sources for all, but probably Fisher. The strap is a boogie board leash I found on the beach. It goes around my wrist. I let the detector go when I dig. Pull it back in with the leash. Goodies bag normally is wrapped around the shaft a couple of times so it doesn't swim around so much when hunting.

I walk in. Have not done diving or snorkeling. May want a shorter shaft for those. Just have to try different set ups to see what works best for you.

Mount it on a straight shaft and figure out where to put it for best balance with the coil you will use.

Mud, did you get the belt clip with it? If so just mount it on your belt. The CZ-20 shaft setup is already straight so your good to go there. I have mine on a Anderson rod and hip/belt mount it. You can swing for hours.

Mudpuppy, check with graytcote about a chest harness,

Kevin

I just built a chest harness that should work great, made it outta a plastic trolling motor battery box, cut it up with some tin snips, and used my old carpenter shoulder straps...working on a belt, and a new underslung shaft mount too. since we still have ice up here, I have some time to come up with a decent scoop, I've been practicing with it in the basement, it sure is loud, even with some sponges in the head phones...do any of you wear the phones around your neck instead of up on your head? I found a site that was most helpful that a guy named Norman Garnush wrote...he sounded like quite a guy, and was a great writer, and inspirational to read...Sandman posted the link on another site...http://www.nmhra.netfirms.com/pulltab/

Be advised that if you need to have any work done on the machine and you are not the person who originally bought the unit they will not repair it they will ask you if you want to upgrade to the CZ 21 . I had that problem and they upgraded me to a CZ 21 and I haven't found gold like I was with the CZ 20 . Lots of coins though .
