Beverly and I took one of our ride abouts this week. About 2500 hundred miles. WE like to travel and a couple thousand miles a week don't amount to much.
We drove all the way around Lake Superior . The weather was a little chilly at times but not bad.
I wanted to stop by and see the Dons on the way up, but was a little out of the way.
I thought I was about to have Vern and DC experience at the border. Guard ask me where I am from, I say, KY, uh IN. He looks at me and says, those are two different places. Yeah, I know, I was raised in Ky moved to southern IN. Pull around back , he tells me,
They totally went through my car, ask me three times where I was going and why I was there and where I was going, each time in a different way.. Ask If I owned any guns, I tell him I have rifles, shotguns and pistols, none with me. Wanted more info on my pistols. Ask several times if I had one with me. I thought I was about to get a full body search. He seemed really concerned about the beer I had with me.Pointed out that I didn't tell him about the bottle of wine we had on the floor board. They do a pretty good job of checking ever thing in the car.
Next day I see a cop pull up behind me and start to pass, he slows, looks at me, and motions for me to pull over. Walks up, tells me to give him the radar detector, lets me know they are illegal and he is going to keep it, and give me at ticket. $170.00. Wonder what the speeding ticket would have been? He also wanted to know what was in the cooler. I told him 4 or 5 beers, Then we went through the the liqueur laws of Canada.
As I am pulling away , Bev says, just what is it with these people and there concern with beer?
Over all it way a nice trip. Expensive lesson on Canada laws though. Anyone have any idea what they would do if I didn't send the money in? Would they go to a lot of trouble to hunt me down?
Ed I was out of town, if you got deleted I missed it. Shucks, I miss all the fun.
