First off I apologize for being gone so long! I've just been so busy I can't even find time to look at the clock. This 3rd shift stuff has taken over my life and it stinks. I've been trying to spend time(what little I have anymore)with the wife and kids. I finally got a week off of vacation and decided to build something for the boys. My dad built me one when I was a kid and remember the fun times I had in it so I've been building one for the last 4 days. It 6x6x6 with a slanted roof. I put in electric for them too! I even put a bug zapper up underneath it. I always liked the sound of bugs getting fried. I will be putting up a contest for some cool things here in the next day or so. Here's the pictures of the project. I left out quite a few but here's a few from along the way. The last pic is of me and a kitten that found it's way to our house one night.

Good on ya ! Looking good too ! I note that you lack a knotty climbing rope, a tire swing perhaps, a "No GIRLS" sign,or maybe instead, a "GIRLS WANTED" sign. Note that you have some elbow room around you, maybe rig up an old telescope or pair of binocs.on a pedestal or hang 'em from the overhead somehow. Keep them handy for the boys and the glass won't be dropped or go " I dunno ! " Good Dad .. have fun !

.... #1 there isn't any trees big enough to support such a structure.

#2 You have to obtain a building permit, pay road impact fees, school impact fees.

#3 Have the project inspected each step of the way by code compliance enforcement.

#4 Expect the city to force you to tear it down because it does not meet hurricane building codes.

There is a tire swing just to the left of the tree house out of the picture. We were at Menard's a few days ago and picked up a "Keep Out" sign to put on the bottom of the trap door an also looked at the telescopes but the looked kinda cheap so we passed on that. They both have a set of Tasco binoculars. I was going to hang an old barn rope so the could swing out of the tree but there are things in the way and didn't want them crashing into something. I'll put up a knotty rope for them to climb though. I'm also gonna put up a little pulley and rope with a small bucket on the end so they can lift up stuff in it. It was a real fun project and they learned a lot by watching dad. I let them measure and cut boards(supervised)and put in many many screws.
