a lady that I know is gonna buy herself a detector, and I need some input on what to tell her to get. I was thinking about the MXT, but don't know what a good clean used one would sell for. I am guessing it will be used for coin and/or jewelry mostly, can you tell me what would make her a good first-time detector. I am gonna let her use mine tomorrow, an XLT, to let her see how it works, any input that you can give me will be appreciated, as she is serious about getting herself one, Thankc, vic.

PS- am thinking about a good clean used unit to keep some of the cost down for her. :)

.... the best machine that current cash flow allows for the type of hunting she plans to do.

If you are looking for a used machine, try to find one that has transferable warranty remaining so if something is wrong with it, it can be fixed right away without additional cost. Hopefully you have a local dealer who sells used machines so he / she can warrant for at least 30 to 60 days an out of warranty machine they sell.

The MXT is a terrific machine. It's my favorite everywhere except in super hot soil like in the Culpeper VA area where I use the TDI. The MXT is easy to use and punches a deep signal.

If she also plans on hunting wet salt sand, the MXT can be a bit chatty so your option is then a used XLT or DFX. The M6 is also a really good basic machine too.
