I found this variety very similar to yours. Pretty sure it's a manual door bell with the same patriotic theme. Mine appears to have been in a fire at one time. 1800's house site was its origin.

You may be right Jeff.
Here is one I found some years ago… was not sure what it was.

I might be wrong, but they are cool nevertheless.
I believe you are correct on the ID.
I looked them up and they are quite ornate.
I remember going to a coworker’s house and he had one.
On the outside was a twist assembly that made the bell ring.
One thing I feel certain of…whatever these are, they are the same thing…

Bicycle bells were also very ornate and similar in shape. I’ve found my share also.
