Long Live the Dollar Coin!!! Please read the article below, and note the savings by switching to a dollar, maybe a 2 dollar coin. The savings are actually greater, if you include the recovery rate of these coins back into circulation by "us" at absolutely no cost to the Government. Why not send a letter supporting this action. It's a win-win situation for everybody!

Please click below to explain the savings by producing only coins! :

Here are my totals from this year alone.....not my best year neither. If you were to add your average yearly finds to my totals......you would see a significant increase. We just need to get organized and do a good letter writing campaign, to get those coins in circulation. :)

second that idea even if there made with zinc..........

Once I took up metal detecting and started hauling in pennies, I started calling for abolishment of pennies, $1, and $5 bills, with coins to replace the bills. Before that, I was a "dont mess with my money" kinda guy.

In Australia, our $1 coins were introduced in 1984 (replacing the $1 note) and our $2 was introduced in 1988 (replacing our $2 note). In 1966 our $1 note replaced our 10/- note, and the $2 note replaced our 1 pound note, when we changed from pounds, shillings and pence to dollars and cents (decimal currency). In 1966, 1984 and 1988 there were grumbles from the people, but it didn't take long before we all got used to the changes, even if they weren't liked by everyone. I can only wonder how many people are in employment here because of the money (coins) found and put back into circulation. Good luck with it in the US....hope it pans out ok. HH

Here in Canada the news 1$ and 2$ are made in steel since a few months,
if you use discrimination your detector will pass over with anny sound.

Better hurry up and do it, while it still costs less than a dollar to mint one.....

Hey you furiners! After they introduced those hi-value coins how long until you started finding them in any quantity? I dream of the day all the zincs are removed from the ground.

And I DO NOT want steel coins. I can live with Zinc or Brass if I have to tho......

Our $1 and $2 coins are made of 92% cupro Nickel, 6% Aluminium and 2%Nickel. They fall into the range of discrimination above, and well clear of pull-tabs, but not as high as larger silver and copper. Our $2 coins are smaller than the $1, and they are more abundent, and judging from the depth that some of them have reached now, I'd say that people started to lose them soon after they were introduced.

Support what ? more of '' Obamas '' > left wing ''Marxist '' big goverment crap scams ... = NO THANKS !!!

Win

In 2002 the euro was introduced in Europe. The national currencies are still favoured but these won't return. As a detectorist I like the eurocoins and I love to hunt for them. My summer season on the beach is not long, just a couple of months. On a good year I fetch

Having $1 and $2 coins makes detecting a profitable hobby here in Australia, I've picked up a bit over $800 dollars so far this year, and a friend of mine who is able to hit a lot of parks during the week, sets himself a quota of $50 a week and usually makes it.

As pointed out by Furious T, the metal composition puts them in a nice high range and you know when you hit one.
I've read where there are millions of US dollar coins in storage because they are not popular. I really hope you guys get them in circulation soon and start making your machines pay for themselves.
