Hey All I'm Looking for a Whites Blue and Gray with 6 digit serial number.

Sorry I can't help..but curious..Why the lower serial number (6 #) Were they different than later models ?.

Yes apparently there is a BIG difference in the depth. The 6 digit machine has a different circuit board. And has an external volume control.

Are you sure EROK? I have a six digit machine and it does not have a volume control?
I think mine was made in 2000 if I remember correctly....

Erok:

You got my curiosity up on the Sierra madre..

Only two knobs and two toggle controls
Threshold
Automatic ground balance
on/off and battery check
Sensitivity level Low/or High

No Volume control listed by Whites on the machine....Maybe you are confused with the 6000 Di.ProSL wide body thats similar in looks but has coin range meter. The Wide body had a volume control the 6000 pro, pro sl etc did not have the volume control..Just a thought Sir, and I may be all wrong....I suppose it's possible the first run may have used the original 6000 board and had a volume control..Let me know if it proves out it did..I would appreciate knowing.

Well there in lyes the question for me. I have gotten different info about the machine I want. I want the B&G with 6 numbers. I had also heard there is another machine that has the coin faceplate and has the 6 digit number. All I would have to do is change the face plate to the Relic meter. Help me get unconfused here! There is a 5900 DI Pro that was purchased in 2000 and has a 5 digit serial number. Here is the pix of this machine. i has a Double Stacked GEB control but no external volume control.

Hey Erok,
Let me put my limited knowledge two cents in here. The 5900 Pro SL is basically the exact same machine as the Blue and Gray. The 5900 has a meter that shows more common coin type targets like dime, quarter, gold, etc on the meter face. The meter face is yellow-black. The Blue and Gray shows relic hunting specific targets on the meter faceplate such as lead, caliber bullet(44,58,69) among other things like large/small brass. This meter is mainly black-red. The meter is the same, just the faceplate is different. The only other difference is that the Blue and Gray has different stickers on the side of the box. Contrary to popular belief, there are no other differences(internal or external) if you compare the same model year 5900 SL Pro to a Blue and Gray. I have heard that some early 5900's and Blue and Gray's came with a volume control, but I have yet to see one. I think this belief may come from the older non-SL version 5900's that were in the older blue box, standard handle version. These had volume controls on them. White's may have put some of the earlier circuit boards in the first 5900 Pro SLs produced. The last version/type of 5900/B&G had the "CB" designation added after the serial number and it meant "composite board". Most people would agree that there were very few differences in the 5900/B&G Sl versions-even the CB version. They are all deep seeking and work well in extreme soil. I have one of each myself. If you find a 5900 and want to convert it to a Blue and Gray, let me know. I have the B&G faceplate and side decals NOS. I hope this info helps. I am sure someone else out on the board may know more as well but most of my info on these has come straight from the factory.

Simple You want a 6000 Di/ProSl wide body Whites..It has the volume control along with all other controls.

here is copies of copies.........

Or, do without the volume control (that you won't use anyway) and get the best analog detector ever made-the 6000 XL Pro. You get the slimline box and it takes AA batteries like all the latest model White's do.

On a different forum a guy has Blue and Gray for sale and says it's the newer version no volume control..so looks like the original may have had the volume..so keep looking they must be out there

I've got one also bought on eBay 5 years ago never used but plan on it soon :)
Heard it goes really deep over other relic detectors
