or for that matter, the country.
here is a copy of my email this morning to our representatives. i will not stop, i will send them something on a daily basis to fight this HB 2078.
Hello,
I'm writing in regards to HB 2078.
This bill is very disturbing to me as a detectorist, which I have outlined in previous emails to you.
But, I thought I would pass this along.
I would like to share with you what some detectorists have done for history, for the community, for the state, and our great country.
Have you ever been to the White Oak Museum in Fredericksburg Virginia?
It houses approxiamtely 90,000 civil war bullets, and holds numerous other civil war relics.
It has replica civil war soldier winter hut sites built indoor and outdoor to show the public what it was like for these soldiers long ago.
It is the only place I know of in the state, or the country for that matter, that has and shows an example of a soldier hut.
All of this has been done by a detectorist. He owns the museum, he started the museum, he wanted to share history with the public. His museum is also full of donated dug civil war relics from other detectorists.
I think it's a great thing.
Every now and then I drive by the museum and see school busses parked in the parking lot.
He and fellow detectorists saved all of these civil war relics from being destroyed and lost forever due to developement and construction.
All I'm asking is that you please take the time to listen to some detectorists, understand what they really do, and realize that we have a passion for finding things. It's not about money, it's not about greed, it's only a hobby that saves some history for future generations.
Here is a website link to this wonderful civil war museum: http://www.fredericksburgvirginia.net/white_oak.asp?parent_name=attractions
Thanks again for listening,

Construction (Leeland Station} is taking place right on top of a huge winter camp proceeding the Battle of Fredericksburg. Local diggers receiving permission to hunt agree to donate to the mini museum being built on site to preserve what camp life was like during the War.
