Heres the Situation-Gold Bug SE

I recently got my Gold Bug SE with the primary purpose being gold prospecting on my claims. There is a lot of bed rock to go over with this thing. I figure I have a few years of walking ahead of me with that 5 inch coil. The question that I have is this...As anyone knows, a small grain piece of gold can hide up until the final swirl of your gold pan. My plan is to shovel the target and gravels into my gold pan. Is there a pinpointer recommended that will speed up the process of finding that grain picker? Or, should I just pan out the gravels which contain the target?

Hi

You could try the Falcon MD-20. It run's at 300 khz, and apparently will detect a piece of gold not visible to the naked eye.
Check their web site. They cost about 220.00. I keep thinking about getting one to detect gold in the moss on rocks.

Thanks Turtleman, I posted this on a different forum and this verifies the general consensus. 220$ bucks though. OMG I need to find some gold first!

A pin-pointer that does that! I gotta get me one of those. How does it handle mineralisation and how far away from its working end will it detect say a 1 gram nugget or similar?
Sounds like its worth every cent!

I can't find the youtube video, but you need to be touching the mineral for it to work.

Heres a video
