This is for all the new hunters....the ones with few hours under their coil. We all dig a lot of junk. We just don't show it. It often times gives the impression that we are so good with our machines that we only dig coins, jewelry and relics. The reality is.....we don't.

Here's the best out of my pile above. No rings or silver coins.

"Tomorrows the day"

Thanks for the reality check, lol.

Thanks much for the photo proof. I thought I was the ONLY one who's detector found piles of crap!

Good idea/post. I have a bucket in my garage full of junk dug. U are right. Too many posts showing good finds. Leaves false sense of reality for newbs

What I do is before I leave the park, the beach or wherever I detect is if there is a trash bin/receptacle, dumpster, all my junk goes in there BEFORE I get into my car. I don't like the idea of packing screw caps, rusty nails, glass shards and all the stuff we all dig to get to the good stuff! I appreciate the original post though because the playing field is level for all of us unless we 'pay our dues' by doing the homework and putting in the time and experience the good and bad and learn. Then and only then, the quality and consistency of our finds improve and the enjoyment level goes up! Happy hunting everyone!

So how long did it take you to find all the rings and such in the other photo...

My first year with my Safari, I took a pic of the day's finds AND a pic of the day's trash. As hoped, the treasure percentage steadily grew as the year wore on. By the end of the year, I was successfully calling most of my targets, including what the trash was, what coin, and silver.

New folks, Hang In There- Experience Counts in this hobby.
