Turns out the ring labeled 14kp WAS gold. The post on the spinner ring I found is sometimes made will steel bearings and hence the reason for the magnet failing the ring. KP means plumb-plumb gold! Pure and simple.:cheers:

Thank for the heads up, it kind of makes sense the mounting needs to be stronger than gold, that to me means plated steel. I think I will check some rings I know to be real to see how many may have some plated steel for structural strength in the mountings. Kind of makes you wonder about the magnet test the first time it was checked.
