Here's that place I've been hunting...

In this first shot, you can see the old farm house in the background across the avenue...

There's a line of trees all around the center grassy area where there used to be a pond. I'm guessing the pond was part of the property way back when... (yes, I've worked the real old tree in the background on the left)

Funny thing is, I just started hunting when another guy showed up with an MXT. He's only the 2nd guy in two years I've ever seen hunt... He said he's hunted the same area about a hundred times and always finds something interesting. Aside from old silver and some indian heads, he's also found an old colonial copper and a King George weight (what they used as a standard). He said he almost chucked it cause it looked like an old nut :)

He explained to me how there's nothing in the middle grassy area and that all of the silver has been around the tree line. (actually, I've found silver in the middle) I told him how the place used to be a pond (He didn't know that) and he remarked how that all made sense now especially after I pointed out the farmhouse across the street. He asked me if I've found anything good and I showed him the seated I found last week. (Aha! He missed one ) I'll be sure to keep hitting this place and another place near it where he found a reale. All of this is pretty encouraging as it all makes sense now. The park areas around there are pretty old. If you can cut through the trash, you've got a shot at finding some history. Pretty cool. Gonna have to do some more research of the area. The real good news is I've got an Explorer and he doesn't... Right Mike and Greg? :minelab: :detecting:

you sure have a lot of good days ahead. If I was there I would grid off - on paper - the entire place and do it all over a long period of time.

What a great place to dig!! I would love to have a place like that to hunt. Keep those great finds coming!

I have an arial view of the place off of Google earth... I'm going to grid off the ares from that and try to plot where I find stuff. Should be interesting.
