For those of you that have children, I don't have to tell you how proud you are of your kids when they experience success in their life. When you see that they are going to be law abiding productive members of society. And especially when you see them exceed your wildest expectations.
Well, I know I am a sentimental old fool, but my wife and my three kids are the most precious giftsthat God ever saw fit to give ol' DOC. I certainly do not deserve the success I have had in life or this wonderful family of mine.
For those of you who do not know, I have been married 35 years. Our oldest son, Arin is 27 and has been married 2 1/2 years and he is a fourth year dental school student. Our 23 year old son, Adam is a second year Dental School student. Our 15 1/2 year old daughter is a wonderful, beautiful, smart young lady who wants to join her brothers dental practice some day.
Well February 1st, I was eating an almond and chipped a piece off of my tooth. I called the dental school and they set me up an appointment the next day with my son, Arin.
You know, it never really hit me, until I went to see him, he is 4 months away from receiving his D.D.M. Doctor of Dental Medicine.
WOW! As I laid in that chair and experienced what a caring, and thorough dentist my son has become, and has never once lost one bit of his sense of humor, I started to tear up. I mean, I am truly a proud Papa. Three different professors pulled me aside to tell me, "You are aware that your son is the best dentist we have aren't you?" Ah, well "NO!" "His is extremely gifted!" They told me that they know of dentists who have been in practice for 5 years, and do not have the skills and knowledge my son does.
Man, it doesn't get any better. Anyway, here are three picture of my son, two of him working on his ol' dad.
I consider you guys my family too, so I had to share. To top things off, two hours after I left my appointment, Arin called to give me more good news; he had just been notified that he had passed his dental board exams he had taken 6 weeks ago.
Take care!
