Here's one to think about...

it hits on digital 22-22 and bounces to 22-06, back and forth.
on the smartscreen, mid upper left corner near iron to mid upper right corner, back and forth.
notice how the conduct number stays at 22. ok, i'm in conduct sound...how does it sound?
it sounds solid, consistant, and repeatable, it sounds good, because along the ferrous axis it's stuck on conduct 22.
if i was in ferrous, how would it sound?
i've found that coins bounce more from right to left...back and forth on the screen, than up and down. in other words, bounce more along the ferrous axis than the conduct axis.
is that why the manual recommends conduct sounds?
did you ever notice how a deep silver dime or some other deep coin does a special jump sometimes along the ferrous axis from right to left and back?
anyway, with it hitting in the mid top left corner near iron like it did, would you have dug it?
would you have dug it in ferrous with the tone jumping around?
would you have dug it at all?
something to think about.
it was in with a rusted bolt, about 6-7 inches deep.

Good post, but I was under the impression that the ferrous number comes first. If that is true wouldn't the numbers be 22-22 and 06-22 (instead of 22-6)?
Your point is well taken. It seems like many of my silver coin finds were jumping back and forth (left to right) on the smart screen. Much of the time it was because there was rusty iron in the same hole. But, sometimes, for a very deep coin, I still see that kind of jumping by the cursor. My thoughts are that the jumping cursor can also be caused by the mineralization of the soil or perhaps rusty iron not in the same hole, but close. I may be wrong about this.
