I finally took a little time to do some research for the area I live. I sure was happy to find some of the info. It seems Sherman marched 60,000 men through here early March of 1865. I also found records of men being wounded in battle 4 miles away. Must have been a small battle. It does give me hope however in finding some civil war relics.
Another neat thing I found was a post card from the 40's with a photo of a gas station and some motel cottages behind it. It seems it was a gas station, motel, and small store. Currently the building is a home that the folks bought and just remodeled, although it has been residential as long as I can remember. I always knew it looked like a station, but was not for sure. It has very little concrete, and lots of grass. I am going to try and do a trade. If they will let me detect, I will give them the postcard. It's only 4 miles down the road. If they don't let me detect I will still give them the postcard, but it may be a good bartering item. I will let you all know how it turns out.

Give them the post card with no strings attached and I bet you they will allow you to hunt. Also,I have an extra detector (ACE 250) and I always invite the property owner along for the hunt, works every time.
Your Friend,
John D.
