That's exactly what I do. I also using a small rotary machine, felt discs and jewellers rouge polish to get that bright luster after an ultrasonic bath.
Here's a good mixture for gold and silver. don't put copper jewellery in this as it is too potent.

1/4 cup mr clean
1/4 cup liquid ammonia
1/2 cup water

Thank you for the info, I'll copy and paste for reference. your rings really shine and now I know how. Have a good evening. Mike

WOW! Maybe you should see if there is a record for yearly and life time rings found. Maybe write a book on metal detecting? I am most sure that you keep a log book or at least write down some info an your detecting. I have only be at this since July, 2010 where as you have been at this for 20 plus years, that's a wealth of information. You give us newbies so much to look forward to by your hard work one can not help but want to do half as good as you have done. So, some times if I seem like I am trying to pick your brain it is not that I am looking for a short cut because I know that each must put in the work to find whatever one is looking for. Dig'em All P.S. You have a working title for your ring book, Rings by # 123

John, how many hours did you use the Scorp compared to the Infinium? If you used the Scorp 90% of the time, then the Infinium found a lot more rings per man-hour. Same for the GTI. A generalized estimation is fine; you probably would prefer to spend your time detecting instead of journaling your time! (My question may not be fair as each detector has its own abilities and it could be too much like comparing apples to oranges.)

Thanks for taking the time to post your finds. I sure enjoy them.

If I may, can I ask what sort of places you hunt? Are you a beach hunter mostly or what?

You have had a great year!! Thanks for sharing the pics.
