The Excal gets mighty heavy after about an hour. I rigged my unit to hang in front of me. I have it on an E-Z swing harness.
The belt not only holds the unit stable, but the ends of the vecro belt go through the nylon cord loops on each end of the controls. this keeps the apparatus from swinging forward if you lean over. I tried it yesterday at two lakes, and it works great. Didn't notice the weight at all, and the rod is a lot easier to move. The cord looks odd in the picture because I put electrical sheathing split cover over it. It straightened thoe tight coils out a little, and protects the cord it it snags on anything. less than two bucks at Home depot (electrical dept).
Three weeks from today I'll be heading to the east coast. AARGH!!
