Yup. We’ve got a Juicy Power 7 port station that’s a similar thing. We have 3 kids with lots of gizmos so it’s handy. I can’t see why it wouldn’t charge the Equinox just fine. Due to the huge usage of USB connected stuff, wall chargers are getting pretty obsolete. See? The Equinox even made the wall charger obsolete!:)

I couldn't find that brand, but my amazon search found one with the same features. Price isn't bad either.... I may get one just for easy charging of all the family's devices on vacations

Poweradd 50W/10A 6-Port USB Charger with Smart Charge Tech for iPhone 7 .......Fleabay $22 shipped.

Looks like there are some water and shock proof portable chargers out there too..
I’m going to do a little research tonight and see if I can find one with some decent reviews.
I would like one that is also light and small so I can strap it on the bottom of the arm cuff if needed.

Just a heads-up, every "rugged" (aka waterproof, shock proof, etc) power pack I have researched lose their rating once you open the USB door to plug something in.

What I would like to know is if I am able to waterproof an external power pack, will the charge/power connection work underwater?

Most multiport USB pwr supplies divide the available power between the number of ports. I.E. 4 port rated at 5v 5a is actually 1.4a per port not 5a per port. Know the color of your USB port and what it means.

Here is what I got coming.

The minimum charging time of a device is controlled by

1. the rate set by the device

2. using a charger that can provide the device's set rate

3. the purity of the voltage supplied by the charger (free of electrical noise, ripple)

4. the temperature the device's battery is charging at

It goes without saying that the charging voltage must be 5Vdc in this case. Using a charger with a higher voltage, say 30Vdc, would probably destroy the device.

With the below in mind and from the Equinox manual:

The charging rate set by Minelab to charge the Equinox is 1.7 amps at 5Vdc

A 2A@5Vdc charger with the same ripple and charging a battery that is at the same temperature will charge the
device in the same time as a 5A@5Vdc or 10A#5Vdc charger. The chargers are capable of charging at different rates, but the device
will only charge at the 1.7A as set by the manufacturer, Minelab in this case. However using a charger with a lower current
rating will take longer to charge the device. I.e. if a 1@5Vdc charger is used it will take 1.7 times as long and a laptop's USB2.0 .5A@5Vdc (500mA@5Vdc) connection will take 3.4 times as long to charge the device. This why it is stated that it will charge in approximately 4 hours with a 2A@5Vdc charger and a laptop will take some 13 hours to charge the battery. Now of course this is assuming that the charge on the battery was equal in all cases when the charge was started.

Notes:
USB industry standard is to limit a USB 2.0 version to 500mA and a USB 3.0 version to 900mA output on computers.
A charger's 5Vdc output has an acceptable tolerance of +/- 5%
The chargers rated at 5Vdc@10A will have 5 connectors, each limited to 2Amps, the safe upper current handling capability of a USB connector

One can not change the laws of physics...Ohms Law for one.

NO......Its not a sealed connection. I believe the new manual mentions that as well.

I already have a Anker powerport 4, 40W 4 plug at 2.4v which does a lot to ensure no damage is done to the device...... i think im good.

That's what Minelab says, too. But most "reputable" brands are UL certified. Only the super-cheap knock-offs may not be...

Steve

My experience shopping for a Charger was the majority were not UL listed, I actually found it difficult to find UL listed, and the price difference was only a couple bucks.

More usb charging info:

In the USB 1.0 and 2.0 specs, a standard downstream port is capable of delivering up to 500mA (0.5A); with USB 3.0, it moves up to 900mA (0.9A). The charging downstream and dedicated charging ports provide up to 1,500mA (1.5A).

Yes, on ebay many are NOT -- but most U.S.-sold ones will be. Also remember, there are other "certified" labels besides UL, too -- CE, etc. Minelab is OK with those other certifications, too.

https://www.cleanroomworld.com/articles/ULCSAETL%20and%20CE%20INFO%20Article.pdf

Bottom line, one that is "certified" means a prototype or "sample" of the unit/device/whatever has been tested by a lab, and through that testing, was verified to perform to the standard stated by the manufacturer. THAT is really, I think, what Minelab is saying -- if you use a bargain-basement piece of junk, and it fries something, we can't be liable. But if you do your due diligence, and use a "reputable" charger, that matches our spec, you are good.

Yeah, what a heartache it would be to buy a cheap or incorrect charger, and burn your new Nox up!!! My Nox deserves the best!

Sep 26, 2016 - USB 3.0 and 3.1 both support the USB Power Delivery specification, which supports a maximum of 20 volts at 5 amps for a total of 100 watts of power.

Why would you need a charger?

I just killed my pc bigtime by plugging in my CTX (see thread in CTX section). Probably ESD. It killed multiple things in my pc. I guess I’d say plug into something dedicated without other devices connected at the time.. and don’t plug anything else in until you take the EQ off of it.
