Here's My 2012 Overall Metal Detecting Report ( while drying 5 LBS of jerky) :drinking:

Spent most of the evening sorting, cleaning and adding up all my loot which has mostly been deposited in the bank a while back. I can only comment that metal detecting is a hobby which continues to constantly give. What you get is $$$, health, gold, silver, friends, knowledge and many other benefits. :)

Here's the rings......probably 50% on land and 50% in the water. I used the Garrett at Pro, the AT Gold and the Infinium this year.

No civil wars in my area, but I do get some oldies from the 1800's and interesting vintage finds. It's fun to me.

Lots of tags in parks and river valley. Mostly from dogs, but there were a lot of coal mines around, which might account for the number tags.

A nice bunch of tokens were found this year. Sometimes tokens can be very valuable. I managed to score a couple of free cat washes this year.

By the time all my math calculations were completed, my favorite snack was done. I managed to produce 5 LBS of jerky. My whole family loves it! :)

Good totals of all kinds. Congrats !

You've had another great year, John. Congratulations. 5 lbs of jerky ain't bad either. Your wife did the right thing when she got you that dehydrator machine.
I had a lot of firsts in the last few months of this year and regret I haven't been able to metal detect much in the last few weeks like I wanted to. I found the most rings I ever found in a year, found my first silver and gold jewelry and my first 2-Mercury dimes. I'm looking forward to what the new year brings in our hobby for all of us and look forward to seeing the posts and photos of even more fantastic finds for our members. HH. I'm praying there will me more firsts to experience for even the most expert members of this forum and some exciting stuff for newbies and people with limited dirt fishing time.

This is awesome. Can you give me a little breakdown on all the differences between your AT Pro and your AT Gold. What does one do that the other does not? Which one do you prefer? Does one find silver coins better than the other? Etc....

You do great in Canada John. I'd love to be able to get out and detect as often as yourself. As an interesting aside, had you been finding the same number of coins here in Oz, your total for the year wouldn't be $487, it would be $2499! (working on the assumption that the average value of coin found here is 60 cents, which is both my average and the average of other detectorists that I've noticed).
BTW Around our cities, that would be quite normal for those that get out a couple of times a week.
Mick Evans.

Typically nice haul, John. Good to see you are still at it.

Thank you for sharing...I am just now getting into this new hobby (keeps me out from under my wife's feet)...this is very encouraging. :)
