I dont usually post here but I thought this would be the place to ask. I dont do much prospecting, when I do I usually just go panning in the local rivers. So heres my question. If I ran my MD over this piece, whats the chances of it detecting any gold that may be within it? This has been sitting in my yard for many years and I am starting to get curious. thanx

Crush it and pan it out. If theirs any visible gold you'll rack your brain trying to remember where you found it:)

Do you get any reaction from your detector now over it? If you don't, then there's probably nothing in it. It might depend on what kind of detector you are running over it. If it's a real gold VLF type machine, you should get a signal of some sort. A coin machine may not.

Well if i was you I would find someone with a Fisher Gold Bug II and get them to check it for you. DON"T crush it! IF there is some Au in it and you crush it then you have thrown at least 1/3 of the value away. If you get a strong reaction then find a Dentist that will x ray it for you.

but nothingof anything. I Havent ran my MD over it yet but I ran my sons over it and nothing. He has a kids model BH. I just may let it sit for another eon or so. Thnx again every1 for the informative replies.
