For more than 50 years synthetic oils have been produced and used in combustion engines. Many scientists will tell you that they are just as good, if not better, than fossil oils. Sooooooo with this in mind, what if every engine produced and/or using oil as a primary crankcase lubricant used synthetic oils would that not reduce our barrel of fossil based oil consumption by millions (maybe billions) a year? Imagine if every car that came off of the assembly line, every lawn mower, pressure cleaner, diesel semi, Oil change in the family van, EVERY mechanical combustion engine in the U.S. used Synthetic oil. Wouldn't that make a difference?
Where is the flaw in my thinking other than the Costs of Synthetic oil is about twice what a quart of regular oil is?
therick
