I think that I have mentioned several times that I Umpire girls fast pitch softball. I do High school in 2 different counties as well as College ball all the way up to Division 1. I did a game earlier this year between the University of Fla. and UMASS and they were both ranked in the top 25 in the nation. Talk about intense!! I have a friend that shot these last week at a local High School game. One is of me at 2nd base slowing down a runner coming into 2nd and the ball was foul and the other is me at the ready position at 3rd base always vigiliant. Hope y'all like 'em.

good positioning on the third base pic.
Really miss umping....not so much the three and a half hour baseball games but those hour and twenty minute fastpitch assignments were always great to get.

I have never been much of a sports fan except for hockey and fishing. that changed a bit the last two seasons up here at Plattsburgh State University. My wife's cousin is the assistant basketball coach so I went to a few games to see him. Come to find out we have a great team, they won the SUNYAC conference the last two years and made it to the Div 3 NCAA sweet 16 this year. Also his room mate is the track coach and friend is on the girl's soft ball team. It has been a great experience to get out and interact with my fellow students and learn more about coaching and the players. I may even make it to a few softball games myself.

When I had to hang it up the pay for a high schooll varsity game was 38 bucks and a fastpitch game was 30.
Would I be wrong in assumming the pay scale has gone up, especially for a D1 level assignment??

That is a proper wage.
I guess a high school game still pays for a tank of gas so it is still pretty much comparable to when I umped.
The D1 games are a testimony to your skill level so congratulations for being noticed for your knowledge and effort.
I still get a copy of the rule book each year just for the fun of it. Have been asked to arbitrate on various rule interpretations from time to time and still like to think I could sweep a plate while my butt faces the proper direction.
