My father builds German military models, 1:35 scale about 12" long.
He puts in at least 100 hours into each one. Talk about detail.......

You can see more and in a larger size at http://www.treasurelinx.com/military_diorama_gallery_2.html

Taken with my Olympus E-PL1 with 35mm 4/3 Macro lens.

Outstanding detail. How does he have the patience to produce models like these? I noticed on the web site that mention was made that in the future that some would be for sale. If it was me, I would not want to sell any of them. Your Father has great talent. :clapping: Kelley (Texas) :)

And he's 77 years old.................gardening and model building.
They are all over the place in the downstairs in the built out basement, probably has about 50 of them.
He needs the room so he can build some more and have a place to store them. My mother harps about
the room they take up...LOL

So yeah he wants to sell a whole bunch. Problem is you can't ship them without having them being damaged during transit.
So I told him would take a few home with me each time I visit and see if they sell at the Antique Mall here.

Pretty cool stuff, that's even way too detailed for me to attempt.

I hope that people realize the time and effort that your Father spent building these beautiful models. Kelley (Texas) :)

Not yet, was figuring out a way to display and sell them without people constantly handling them.
They can easily be broken.
Last week managed to find a clear plastic display case for Barbie dolls at Michael's. Had a 50% coupon so the box cost me $12.00.
The tank fits in perfect, the other diorama needs a bigger box.

With this box the model can be viewed from 4 sides and top as well from the bottom. The entire display will then be put into our locked display cabinet.
The box will be sold with the model. The only issue with the smooth bottom was the tank sliding back and forth during handling, moving or transporting.
The fix for that was kitchen shelf liner material bought from the Dollar Store. A piece of that on the bottom, and the tank is not going anywhere.
By the way it's the same material being sold by wood working stores for years for those routing wood. Just lay the wood on the material and rout away. No clamps needed.
There's a 1000 uses for the stuff. https://www.duckbrand.com/solutions/home-organization/shelf-liner-uses

By the way, keeps your camera from slipping off the table when setting items up for pictures, between pictures.

You might have to buy a sheet of clear plexiglass and build your own custom size display cases. At one time, you could buy a four foot by eight foot sheet of plexiglass at Home Depot, but I do not know if they still sell it. Kelley (Texas) :)

I moved to Canada not the same as the US, they don't carry half the stuff you can buy down the street in the US.
Very frustrating, and if you do find it, it can be very costly. Now I know why Canadians do a lot of cross border shopping.
Have to import 95% of the items I use to build my PI's.

Actually thought about building my own cases, many years ago used to have a table saw set up with a plastic cutting blade.
At the time I was building polycarbonate wet/dry filters for saltwater aquariums. Loved Great Lakes Plastics in Buffalo, NY.
The showroom had a salvage scrap room. It had every thing from sheets to shapes, over runs. At the time $1 a pound.
Next time I run down to Buffalo on a weekday, will see what they have. Yup, making my own plastic display box is an excellent idea.

Home Depot does sell plexi-glass sheets. I had to buy a large sheet to cover a double hung window where a scumbag broke into my house, yes he fell into the cop's arms as he was coming out. Silent burglar alarm called cops.............NGE

Yes they do, way too expensive up here in Canada. Cheaper to buy pre made cases from the US and have them shipped.
Probably see what I can get when I visit my parents in NY.
