I don't know if this has been posted..Look up AMES True Temper 2500800 Planter's Buddy.....Cost $13.99. at your ACE Hardware Store or Internet..( Ace # 2130006334)...Blade marked in inches. Now you have a depth gauge handy at all times... Right side, of blade ,serrated for root cutting.Almost worthless if RH'd and don't practice..Take a Dremel tool, a course stone and serrate the left side of the blade.to match ..Now, you have a right handed root cutter that is fantastic in sod and anything else needing cutting...LOA is 11.75 inches, Top has a good flat.allowing two hands for pushing and prying. A hole for leather thong..Last comments, wear gloves, for both hand protection and gripping...Remember the VW, with the Chevy V 8 in the back seat? This is it all over again...Dan Brown dropped one off for me, after I modified it, can say this is the best digging tool for the price I have ever used...Cordially Nad

I picked one of these up in the store and just didn't like the feel of the flare at the end of the handle, so I put it back.

Keep us posted on how it holds up.

I have one that served me well for about 1 month, before it broke where the handle meets metal. I could have used the lifetime warranty, but figured it would break again. I got a mechanic buddy to weld a piece of 1/4" rebar to the blade and drill the handle out so the rebar fit inside of it. It shouldn't break again...

I've got about three weeks worth of digging and prying on this one.Maybe, it breaks next week?.Several models of this thing out there.Several models of quality. .I like the flat, on top, to push down on, beats a round end..If you do get one,, serrate the opposite edge, makes digging almost a pleasure ...Cordially NAD

Hay Nad,

I got a Fiskers hand digger.

It is flat enough you can turn the

blade either way to dig or cut.

I could break it if I tried, but I don't

try that hard.

I used it a hole lot for a long time.

But it seems to be getting less

and less use.

I started using a screw driver.

If I'm where I can make a mess.

I just use my Aims short shovel.

It puts all the hand diggers to

shame on ease of digging and

speed.

It weighs just a hair more than

a Lashet digger.

Happy Hunting,

That's what I'm using at the moment. Picked it up at Home Depot for about the same price. It does a good job so far.Could'nt bring myself to spend the money on the Lesche, but I may yet.
