Aluminum scoop 7 x 6 x 12 uses a Post Hole digger handle and weighs about 5.5 lbs.

As someone who has made a few scoops I must say this one looks like it will get the job done and looks great too.
Hi BCOOP,

It's best use will be in the water digging sand and may well last years doing that work.

Rocky areas such as we have locally would not be kind to your scoop even with a stainless lip to strengthen the cutting edge.

I have two welded stainless scoops I built in 1982 that are still in service, but they weigh in at almost three times what your scoop weighs.

That is what is needed in the kind of digging we have here.

Both of my scoops have broken and been repaired, but reinforced at the time so that they haven't broken since.

It will be ineresting to have feedback after you have some miles and hours of digging on this scoop.

Good Luck and Happy Hunting Friend,

CJ

By buddy John made this scoop for himself, I have 2 scoops of my own, Nuttall and a Reilly's travel model. John and his wife are vacationing with us in July. He has never metal detected before at all except for the few times I have taken him over the last few weeks at the park and school yard. The metal detecting bug has bit him now and he is looking to purchase his own machine. He will be using one of my machines on the beach and I told him if he likes land hunting here in Southeast Missouri then he will really be hooked after a week of beach detecting.

I would love to see him pull out a nice find, he'll be hooked for life.
