here is the cleaned and shined "mystery coin" that I found yesterday; not much left to it, but I'll take it.

made a valiant attempt to revive this Seated Liberty, but the ocean elements were against me.

this coin had to have been sitting in that ocean for at least 100 yrs.

No visible date, but I know it was minted 1838-1891

Aside from that observation, I cannot make out any Arrows in the date area ( Variety 5; 1873-1874) and hard as I try, cannot make out even one number of a date :cry:


According to the "RED BOOK"..that leaves me with the parameters of Variety 4 ( 1866-1873) and Variety 4 Resumed ( 1875-1891) .

Feel free to correct me on this analysis if I am mistaken.
