As you read the history, you can see how logging is an important part of our pioneer days, I found these 3 axes I posted before researching some relic sites, also you can see a photo of a old swimming hole which I have found a few old coins. The map shown in link has given me a few more area's to explore. hh oj

photos in the article. Is that you at an early age, the child at the bottom part of the second picture? Thanks for posting this story, I like reading about things like this. Kelley (Texas) :)

I knew about the ox ens being used in logging, but that map shows some of the old roads.. hope to find a few relics soon. oj

I came upon remnants of the steel chains used in that contraption to move the logs, will post if get any location shots of the old logging sites. oj

I keep thinking you made mention of that park sometime in the past. Why don't you take pictures of the places you hunt with the metal detector, folks would love to see them. You have posted some good pictures in the past that I have enjoyed seeing. Kelley (Texas) :)

A buddy of mine gave me a tip to a old logging camp, I was basically only looking for clues to the camp..still researching it. He had found it years ago and gave me some foggy directions, the chain was a good indicator. I was hoping to detect for old coins. oj

ps found some trash there.

that park is on my check list, the map shows 2 old skid roads crossing it, yes I will bring my camera. This park also is just a moment away, looks like I will have a lot of sites to check this summer. The finds are difficult but I do enjoy the outdoors. oj

I like those steam powered winches... Hard way to make a living for sure. Sure had some serious timber back then... Anything
like that there now?

Thanks for post.
