here is my share gulf hunter - how u like it :) :) - ina got a class and beat the heck out of me

Hello,

I'm new to this forum and getting ready to start detecting again. I had to stop for awhile due to back operation. Anyways, can some of the pro's or old timers (please dont take wrong) help out.

In the photo called 'Darren at work' would that be called, working the cut? Being how the beach is very big and how certain areas might produce better results, where on the beach would be the best? Please explain in newbie terms.

I also noticed sometimes on the wet side of the beach, there are spots...maybe 6 feet or more from each other, that have lots of gravel/shells/etc...would that be a good area to search...meaning would it be better then searching a different spot?

Sorry for the questions, just trying to get a handle on this amazing hobbie.

Thanks,
:)

PS: Also I noticed in some posts, that you go hunting at real early hours, like 4am or etc and mention because doing this for low tide, but doesnt low tide come around during the day time too? Is there a different reason for going at 4am, then 10am or 3pm?
Last question, is hunting during new moon low, the best time to go?

few people out and it was quite pleasant. Then the next high tide would be at around 5 PM and tons of people getting in your way and trying to ask questions. Not that's bad. Heck, I would talk to a rock.

Max puts captions under his pictures just to add alittle extra. Like "Darren at work" just shows Darren digging.

Where do you hunt and what kind of detector do you have?

Finn,

Thanks for replying...as for the pic I asked about...I was using it for an example...meaning in the picture you can see where the dry/wet sand is and also can see what I think would be 'the cut'. I was trying to ask if anyone as in, the pro's...could use that photo to help explain where on the beach would be a good spot to hunt.

As for where I hunt...I live in brooklyn, ny and have an excal800.

Thanks,
:)

And please keep the beach tips coming

top edge of the damp sand to neck deep in the mine

pure luck where u swing your coil..................some hunt coin lines some don't

it is all deposited by the waves and the weight determines where it will stay and go and move and and and

u have to be lucky and hunt slow and keep your coild low to the ground or scrape along the sand............

Hello again,

First I want to thank you for taking the time to explain. You mention about, hunting coin lines...what does that mean? What area of the beach is this?

Also, is it better to hunt where the waves reach the beach (meaning, if you look at the sand, before the next wave comes, you can see the up and down outline of the wave in the wet sand)

OR

wait for really low tide or new moon low tide and hunt the wet sand, that would normally be under alot of deep water on regular tide?

Sorry if sounds a bit confusing...

Thanks,
;)
