From what I have read, the small percentage of copper in sterling silver, when mixed with ammonia will cause the ammonia to turn blue

Here is what happened over the last two hours after I placed the ? silver pendant in ammonia..

Does anyone know if this is a bona fide test for sterling?

If it is, then I have a silver pendant....that would be just nice!

thanks for any help anyone can give me on this question
