I hope this comes out. Thanks for the info on scanning. It scanned real well. If you look close you can see a crane (or dragline) etched into the metal. At the bottom right is has the company name "P&H. On the reverse it tells a lot about the capacities of the crane, etc. I found it in 7" of gumbo soil. I had the sensetivty set at 4. It isn't worth anything. But, it's neat to find something!!

Is a watch fob from the P&H mining company founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1884. Nice find. Here is there web site where you can see their logo and learn about the history of your new find. http://www.phmining.com/

Great first find, Tuf. I think it will be awhile before anyone can top that for a first hunt:bouncy:

That kind of find is what I got into this hobby for, not that I don't enjoy the coins, too.

The Scanner does work great; I'll have to try that:)
 
There is one just like yours with the asking price of $45.00. Not bad for a first find, way to go!!!
