Here is a picture of my Disc Range Chart.

Since it will form the background for all my other charts, I will most likely go back and spend some time on a color code. Hope you may find it useful.
The notch and tone ranges are exact! The nickel, Sqtab, zinc, and dime ranges are from the manual, but my air tests show them to be close enough to be left where they are.

That's very interesting. Like I said before, with all the efforts your making, it should translate into a short learning curve & hopefully some great finds!

I am going to be target oriented with the C$. Its easy to setup stable and swing, and its fairly easy to dig all signals for a few days to learn the machine's language, then turn on the notches and walk over good targets looking for high tones and never really appreciate this machine's capabilities.
However, This Threshold thing is alot more useful than most would realize, but you need a disc range chart to put it to good use. And you have to be target oriented.
Take Jewelry for example, which will by my first field study with the coinStrike (I got a clad machine already dontcha know ) I have a limited number of old sites, but I have 200+ new sites. So what to hunt at new sites???? Jewelry and clad.
Where will the gold rings show on the CoinStrike? Nickel? Tab? Well...actually, most small white gold, platimum and rose gold rings (most with diamonds and other stones) are going to show up in the foil range from 0 to 6, and I wouldn't be suprised to see some of them go alittle negative. My thin 10K yellow gold ring I found in January hits a solid 7 on the CoinStrike. Then the yellow gold rings move on up into the Nickel range, and up into the tab and even zinc range as karat and/or size increases.
Focusing on the first set of rings, How deep are these rings to be found? 7"? 8"? 10"?
Nope, these little items are going to be found in the top 3 or 4" of soil. Where is all the modern trash in the ground??? the top 3 or 4" of soil.
I can regulate depth with the sensitivity settings for the most part, but how to regulate the trash? That is where the Threshold will shine
(I saw this as soon as I started studing the C$'s features and playing with threshold settings on my Tesoros)
By lowering the threshold settings to the point to where the micro alum and odd shaped trash won't register, the solid ring hits will come in nice and solid. I'm thinking settings like 270 or even 180 in combination with a 75 iron disc range. Add to this the unique CS feature of raising numbers on low conductive targets at distance, it will be easy to eliminate the larger trash by how far up number wise it will go when raising the coil
So when I think of machine settings, I'm not thinking only of stability, I am thinking target specific. For Jewelry, I would have a setting for the small gold rings, a different setting for the heaver and deeper yellow gold, and a different setting for the micro jewelry. After I develop the settings and test them out, then when I go hunting for Jewelry, I'll preload the CS memory for each category and a hunting I will go.
Need to get outside and put all this to the test and see how it holds up. Pretty confident it will.
