hi, maybe you can connect your button whit the acadians, between 1755 and 1763, 18000 of them where
deported by the British and invade Louisiana and the region around Beaumont, the emblem of acadians is
the star see picture, and to help thoses of you that is looking for military relics see the map of the french
army at that time, in blue on the map = french army, red = the British, orange = the Spanish,
the french ad more than 150 fort, but on the map you can see the place of only 60 of them see where the
stars are on the map, you got the years beside, to make it short, there was 2 french fort near Houston,
fort st- Louis and fort st-jean-Baptiste that should be around Galveston + or -, depending where you lives
you can expect to find coin and relics from that part of times, Louisiana comes from the french king
Louis and his wife Anna, this map will help a lot of you, so long.
you can find a bigger version of the map and be able to read it on Wikipedia, enter, nouvelle france

Hard to tell, it is so worn, but it could be a confederate button from Mississippi. There were three, they all had Mississippi around the star and one had an I on the star itself and another had a C on it. Not sure what the third one had, as the picture I have is so bad. But try looking up Mississippi confederate buttons and maybe you can find better pictures.

I just realized the info I had was incomplete. There were actually 7 buttons from Mississippi with a star on it. And they can be worth quite a lot of money. I tried uploading the attachment but it is a Word document and was not accepted. I am more sure than ever now that it is indeed a Confederate button.
