be in those for sure.... I'm not crazy for them when the place starts lighting up all around you, but the power in them amazes me...Up on the hill here we take a beating at times.... Glad you guys all got back in with no harm done...... Had a neighbor I used to keep in contact with via ham radio on morse code when he vacationed. He was a big time electronic guy who had developed a lot of stuff for the Navy and Underwater Sound Lab for submarines. All of a Sudden he did not make it on the air one night, Next day got a call phone from his wife. They were in Cotton Wood Lake, Colorado....She said sun out, he had taken another campers son down to the like to let him catch a trout. Made about 10 cast, caught one, then a black cloud popped over the mountain and wack, bolt hit Ed dead on. The little boy was ok but Ed was gone in and instant.. It amazed his wife that here was a man that worked with electrics all his life, retired late, only to be taken out by the very thing that gave him a great living..... Got to do like you did, get away from it if you can.....
On the steel with the big high booms on the cranes and us putting steel up, as soon as we had any indication one was close we came off the iron fast and got away from the crane..... Yet, I still enjoy watching them over the water or big land area.... Had them take out tree's 10 feet off the house here. like you say, they were blue and the bark was flying off on the big oaks. Figure they protect us some by being highter and take the hit like a lightning rod. On the other hand, they draw it in close also. That stuff jumps all over the place.
Up late tonight, was mowing all day, came in for dinner laid down, and here I am at 2:15 am just waking up..... long nap.....Last I remember was the 6:00pm news.........
