Henry 3rd cut half

Cut half of Henry 3rd of England minted in Canterbury by Gilbert about 1260. As pennies were the only coins minted at this time they were cut in halves and quarters to get lower denominations. Recovered 4 inches down with a V3i in the Scottish borders.

Sweet! Finding those hammered has to be satisfying. Good luck on finding more great stuff and good to see how you are settling in to that V3i!

We don't dig many here, but they do pop up occasionally, especially in the James River, Virginia area.
