Hello, can someone help me pick out a good detector for water and wet sand. Is anyone detector best? Or is it just personal preference.

If you are going in the water nothing will beat the Excal by Minelab. If you take the time to learn this machine you will be more than satisfied. If are just going on the beach or very shallow water the Sovereign GT is just great period. With a meter the GT is a great machine. It is also built by minelab.

The best water and wet sand detectors are $600 and up. All a matter of money and the type of hunting you do. DetectorPro has just come out with a $300 water and wet sand detector that works very well. You will need to do your own research and decide from there.

In my opinion, no matter what, if you are going to be in water ( be it 2 inches or 2 feet) get a waterproof unit. The last thing you want is clumsy hands, dropping the thing and frying it.

And I agree with the others...the pocket book is the big decider.
