Hi All
I am looking at getting a new detector and can only afford one machine.
I hunt the woods and parks hear in Phila Pa. and the AC. NJ. Beaches
I am looking for a machine that will shoot coins and jewerly in all the above places
and on the wet and dry sand.
The machines I am looking at are the Sovereign GT and the Whites M6
Can any one help me sort this out, I would like to get a new detector this coming month!
I am using a Tesoro Cibola a good mechine but with no Tone ID it is ruff going.
Thanks Richard (dirtdog)

dirt dog , i use an M-6 whith the 5.3 eclipe coil and ive hunted the woods and the feild on my farm and i can say it will find relics im finding all kinds of relics and i have used it on the beach fresh water and can find dime at 8" i like the 5.3 because it is better in the high trash spots and is super at centering and i have found it will go just as deep as the stock coil the tone I.D is great along whith the VDI i know when its iron but some round iron objects can give false signals coin size objects you can expect to get 7" to 8" deep bigger objects like a brass belt buckle way deeper and if you used a bigger coil you can get way down thear and its simple to use plus if you want to hunt a playgound just turn down the senc and you can get real close to the metal post whithout seting it off other coils i would recomend a big foot ,also the coin mode is a joke to me because coins can be masked out by other objects in my opinion you do not need coin mode just use vdi numbers and tone id im happy whith mine but if you could spend 100. extra the MXT would be grand

I would go with the M6.The reads on those are really good, and if I understand correctly the tones in forward button are great...I also hear they have incredible depth and will keep up with the big boys.

Hi dirtdog,

I have both detectors and feel the M6 would be more productive at the trashy inland sites with a smaller coil. The GT would definately be the better wet salt beach hunter but it does not hit on the smallest targets as well as the M6 in dry sand.

When i go to a trashy park or school etc. the M6 is my first pick due to the very quick target recovery and reset speed but if i decide to go real slow and really listen for the deeper targets with a mellow softer tone the GT would be the choice and the 180 ID meter is excellent on deeper targets. Both detectors should serve you well and personal preference would determine the fun factor. Just my opinion of course. HH Bill
