Ok guys .. I live in california.. I guess our beaches here are realy heavy with black sand. Can anyone help me with suggestions on settings? Dang thing makes a LOT of noise with The thresh set at 0 , disk 99 , sense 1-3 , with salt on. Can not work the beach at all with salt off.. At least i havent found a good setting combo with it off for the beach. Did find a .68 in clad but everything was within 1 in .
This MD is great with coins but not relay on the beach.
Does anyone else hunt the beach a lot here? Specialy realy hevy black sanf beaches. And if so is it normal to be getting a LOT of signals? its falsing i think. With five swings i get like 12-30 hits but when i scan them again there is nothing. HELP lol
Thanks.

-40 to quiet it down & stop the flasing. Also run sensativity @ 4 or lower. Also run without a coil cover. Black sand gets trapped between the coil & cover which will cause it to false constantly.
Turn off averaging & try it with ground tracking on.
Good luck,

Just experiment. I have alotta black sand here & I found through trial & error that salt OFF is better here. Another "trick" is try not to ground balance in the wet , black stuff. If your having stability problems, you can balance in dry sand and then go down to the wet stuff...

Thanks guys. BTW i dont have a coil cover .. so that shouldnt be a problem.
I will give it a shot tomorrow! BTW there was a realy nice 1 1/2 foot + cut on the beach today.. Couldnt find anything in it (due to the constant falsing) but up on the dry area i found a little clad.
Also meet up with a guy who said he had been MD sense 1960's .. To bad he didnt have any tips to help me out tho.. (not shure if i trusted what he said)
Told me he had grided the beach with his whites (forget modle) and he showed me about 1.50 in clad.. I did a walk over in the dry area where i was able to get some decent signals without too much falsing and less then 1 foot from a hole (he had left holes all over the beach) of his i found a quarter... Seemed like a nice old gentalman.. But i dont think he knows as much as he led me to belive.
Well thanks guys will try it out in the morning
