HELP!!!!

Today, I turned on my V3, balanced it, and got a continuous volley of various false signals, even before lowering it to the ground. This took place in two different locations, in the woods, and in the back yard. I mean I got bells, whistles, and every reading imaginable. The machine has been used about 5 times, but not since December. Is there something I can do before I send it back to Whites? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

You could try new batteries in the unit and headphones. White's said this doesn't help, but try it anyway, take the battery out while it is on and running, wait a minute, reinstall and start up again. Check you coil connection, it should be tight. Try another coil if you have one. Reset the programs back to factory if you have changed anything and try the coins program, reduce the gain and sensitivity to a lower setting. One last ditch effort is to call the factory service and see if they recommend trying anything else before sending it back in.

Good luck.

Could it possibly be that you are getting interference from your cell phone???

That has happened to me. It is especially bad if you are far from a cell tower. The phone will constantly try to connect to a tower.

+1 on what Larry IL says - and try picking a different frequency - look at what it indicates and choose the best.... may try both the detector and a different channel for the headphones. Be sure the batteries are up and good.
