Help. Am trying to relearn my mxt after letting it sit idle for a long while. Was coin shooting a local park today and doing fair on clad coins, but in several places I would get a good signal with vdi: +26, depth: 5'', dime, with full bar. Well, I dug down I figure 6 or 7'' and it was pin pointed pretty good, but couldn't find any thing. The signal was still strong, but after 5min searching I gave up. Any helpfull hints would be appreciated. Oh, I was using the 9.5 stock coil.
Thanks.

My guess is that your target was masked by trash, etc. Maybe even a large can down deep with some iron. No telling. It's hard to distinguish/separate trash from good targets with the stock coil unless you've used it over and over. And then sometimes we all have problems. You're on the right track. Practice practice practice! You'll get to know your machine and the dust will never settle on it again! HH and welcome to the MXT Forum, Nancy

Around my area nickles come in at around VDI + 26 and pieces or aluminum, but I don't know why you could not find it. Do you have a good pinpointer? If not you might think about getting one. I had the same problem because I don't see as good as I used to, invested in a DX-1 pinpointer and solved my problem.

I'm confused with the reading, "I would get a good signal with vdi: +26, depth: 5'', dime, with full bar ". I don't know if I ever got a dime lower than around VDI 76 or so. A VDI +26 would would read something like VDI=+26 Tab Ring, and the confidence bar would be above the tab ring symbol, not over the penny dime symbols. If it was a dime or penny it might read VDI = 78 and the bar would be above the 1 cent - symbol. The dime part of your reading I don't understand. If I get a +26, as I said, it would read tab ring but the bar would be over the the tab and ring signal. If the bar and VDI don't agree that much I don't thing I would be digging it. I don't know if I ever got that reading. Rob
