Help with value of dfx300

I have never owned a whites detector, been swinging Tesoro's and A T2 for a while, but I came across a deal locally for a dfx300 in real nice shape....is there anything I should look for specifically? What would be a reasonable price? The guy wants $500 but I think he would take $400. Can anyone here give my any advice?
 
A price of $400 would not be to bad for a DFX in excellent condition. However you may not like the 12" coil that came with the DFX 300, it's heavy and since it is a concentric coil does not separate well in trashy areas. If that is the coil it comes with you will most likely end up buying a different coil.. Don.
 
$325-$375 on this forum, $400-$450 on the Bay..
