...Help with Sovereign meter question

Does the meter have a default value or does it stay at the value of the last target found and change only when another target is found.

Dan,welcome to the forum,In the discrimination mode the meter will reflect the current target including a null for iron.In theory the ID will stay at the same value until another target is encountered,but there are other factors.Good Luck HH Ron

Hi Dan and welcome lets say you find a silver dime the meter will show a 180 or 80 etc. depending on the meter your using , when the center of the coil is right over the target as soon as you move the coil off the dime the numbers will change on the meter . Hope this helps HH Jim

Thanks for your guys help, if I find a dime for example and meter says 180 when I continue searching will it stay on 180 when searching for next target?

Dan,ground changes,iron nulls are factors that cause different ID readings before you find another 180 dime target.You may even get a 144 and recover that 12 gr 18K gold ring. HH Ron

For the land hunting I do when ever the tone changes the number on the meter changes too, so in my case the tones are always changing because of iron and other items it see. If you do a air test where there is no other item around and wave a coin across the coil and the numbers as you see will not change until a different item is seen or some interference, then both the tone and number will change. This is what i really like about the Sovereign if using a meter as beside hearing the target it see you can read the numbers on the meter so those slight hits in with trash you can see it on the meter too..
