Help With Sovereign GT Switch Boots

I just got my Switch Boots in from Action Electronics and tried to install them. Here is my problem not matter if I remove the original nut or not the switch boot nut is too large and the switch won't stay in either the up or down position. Have any one else had this same problem, or can anyone give me some suggestions. Like I said I got the switches from action electronics and they are

I was told that it was normal for them to act that way until they get broken in and to check the switches regularly to make sure that they stay in the desired position. I have also heard that the larger nut is normal.
Hope this helps.

do you mean it wont thread onto the threads? Then its gotta be to big right? I use the sunray ones and remove the small nut and screw those right on and they work fine.

not sure of the size though, just ask Rick (ND) to get you some.

I have seen some of the problems with some of these boots being sold at some of these places as they are not made for the switches we use and are for other switches. I got some at Radio Shack one time and they fit their switches plus some others, but would not fit the ones Sun Ray uses or Minelab as the tread is differnt is why I recommend getting them from a Sun Ray dealer or from Ralph at Sun Ray so you get the right ones first time. The Sun Ray one we get now are called half boots as they go on the switch a little different as we seen so many wear out from use when you grab the toggle itself as the rummer covers the whole thing. The half boots slide onto the toggle itself so the metal part is sticking out you switch so it can wear out as fast and fits very tight on the shaft and will screw on too like the others and it seals the switch so dirt and water can get in. Those that cover the whole switch like pictured you will wear a hole in the rubber in no time.

Funny that you mentioned the half boot as I was going to suggest something just like it as a possible, new design of boot. Dang, someone beat me to it again.

Randy: You can get them at Mouser Electronics and there part number is 608-N5032B or call David at Dixie Detectors.

I ordered the same boot covers from Action Electronics for my Sovereign Elite and they seem to fit just fine. I left the original nut on since the o-ring seals the toggle from the top.
